Dyslexia, affecting up to 1 in 10 children, is often misunderstood and sidelined in many of our schools. Chances are you know someone with dyslexia, but what you may not realise is that 1 in 4 children fail to master the basics of writing at the end of primary school and for reading this is 1 in 9, having a life long impact for some.
Drive for Literacy is a model that gives teachers a better understanding of how they can help pupils who struggle with literacy and may be dyslexic. The model gives them the skill set to make the necessary adjustments to meet the needs of these pupils so they can access the curriculum and experience success.
“The work you are doing to support children and young people with dyslexia and the help that you offer to professionals to spot the signs of dyslexia early is clearly having a positive effect.”
Edward Timpson MP, Minister for Children and Families
